This paper is aimed to description of workflow leading from loading Stabile cadastre raster maps into coherent geodatabase file. All procedures were made in AutoCAD Map 3D 2009 environment a and the SDF would a final product.
I am aware of being a little bit out of date (there is already Map 2012 in the market) and that SDF is not as widespread as SHP, but conversion between two different formats is a trivial task.

A famous mapping project with land registry system in Habsburgh Monarchy called "Stabile Cadastre" (also known as Franciscan Cadastre) dated in 1. half of 19. century is widely known and documented.
